A great deal of the work at Berea is carried out by volunteers. Anyone wishing to help the congregation by donating their time should watch for information in the weekly service announcements or contact the church office at 612-861-7121. We welcome your participation!
Here is a list of some of the many opportunities to get involved:
Altar Guild
The Altar Guild is a group of people who care for the chancel area of the church, the paraments, the communion elements, the communion ware, decorating the chancel, and arranging for flowers for regular and special services.
Banner Guild
The Banner Guild is a group that makes and cares for the banners of the congregation. This guild was established in 1988, and has been busy ever since designing, making, remodeling, hanging and caring for our banners.
Flowers / Bulletin Sponsorship
People who wish to provide flowers for worship services or wish to sponsor a service bulletin will find information and sign up sheets posted on the bulletin board across from the nursery.
Greeters
The Greeters program is organized as a ministry of hospitality to help create a welcoming environment for our worshipers and visitors.
Nursery
The nursery is staffed by volunteers during the Sunday morning services and during Education Hour.
Readers (Lectors)
To emphasize the involvement of laypeople in the church and to provide an opportunity for service, the service lessons are read by members of congregation (lectors). These people are volunteers. Those wishing to serve in this way should contact the church office.
Ushers
Any confirmed member of the church is eligible to be an usher. Ushering is a vital ministry of hospitality for both members and visitors. By setting a tone of friendliness, helpfulness, and good order in worship, ushers can be the some of the most important people worshipers will meet. It is said that ushers have a greater impact on visitors to a church than does the pastor, the organist, the choir, or anyone else involved in worship.
