Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."      Matthew 19:14

Acolytes
Acolytes are young people of the congregation who light the candles for Sunday worship services and other special services (e.g. Ash Wednesday) as deemed appropriate. All young people in grades 6, 7 and 8 are expected to serve as Acolytes. Training is provided at the appropriate time.

Junior Confirmation
A two year course for Junior Confirmation is held for students in seventh and eighth grade. Confirmation is held on Wednesday evenings from 5:00-6:30 pm through the school year, with days off during Holy Week and the weeks during Advent.

Classes are team-taught by our pastor and the staff member in charge of youth. Confirmation students in seventh and eighth grades are also expected to attend the confirmation classes on Sunday mornings at 9:20 am, which meet at the same time as Sunday School and Adult Education.

The Confirmation service is held on the first Sunday in May.

Pre-confirmation communion is an option available to children in the sixth grade beginning on Maundy Thursday, upon completion of the required instructional courses.  Early communion is not compulsory, but is provided for those families and children who wish to take advantage of it.

Sunday School
Sunday School is offered to children three years of age through sixth grade on Sunday mornings at 9:20am and corresponds closely with the normal school year (Sundays between Labor Day and Memorial Day.) Parents may register their children by contacting the church office or by speaking with the Sunday School Superintendent or assistant on Sunday morning. Children in Sunday School take part in a Christmas pageant in mid-December and occasionally sing for worship services.

Vacation Bible School

Our congregation conducts a summer Vacation Bible School which is scheduled the second full week in August. It is common for over half of the students to come from non-member households, perhaps a third of the students coming from households where there is no church affiliation.
